This issue broadens our view to include the global Church and the diverse settings where faith is lived, challenged, and renewed. We are honored to feature Peter C. Phan’s timely reflection, “Pope Francis and Global Migration: Practice and Theology.” In an age marked by unprecedented human mobility, Phan demonstrates how Pope Francis’s pastoral vision—centered on encounter, mercy, and the dignity of each person—serves as a theological guide for addressing the moral issues of migration today. From Taiwan, Stanislas Lukusa Mufula presents “Between Our Lady and Mazu: Interreligious Presence and the Discernment of Mission in Dajia.” His study of Marian devotion alongside the veneration of Mazu explores a vibrant space of interreligious encounter, where mission is understood through presence, listening, and shared humanity rather than confrontation. In Japan, Roger Vanzila Munsi offers a deep anthropological and theological analysis in “Kirishitan Shrines in Nagasaki: Embodying Ritual, Memory, and Collective Identity.” His work reveals how these sacred sites continue to influence community memory and identity, bearing witness to centuries of faith. William Grimm shares insights in “A Missionary Journey to, in, and through Japan,” tracing the development of mission efforts in Japan, highlighting both historical challenges and modern opportunities for evangelization rooted in humility and dialogue. In “Synodality in America, 1966–1992,” Eugene Duffy revisits a crucial period in the Church’s response to Vatican II. Finally, Paul O’Brien, in “Seán O’Casey and Religion,” introduces readers to the literary and spiritual world of one of Ireland’s most influential dramatists.
